The Most Stressful Time of the Day
According to Virtual Psychology, 7am is the stress hour of the day. Usually, they receive texts from millennials stressed over their job not being the right one for them. Parents will usually text in at 10am. This isn’t because they’re not stressed at 7am, but as they are in the middle of the mad rush for school and work, they don’t physically have the time. It’s generally around 10am when they’ve slowed down enough to have a break that they realise they’re not coping.
Nearly 55 years ago the marriage bar for women was lifted by the Holt Government. This heralded the way for families to have two working parents instead of one. I certainly remember the stress of getting everyone out of the door on time. Kids have a way of not being able to hurry when you would most like them to. Inevitably there will be something that has gone missing or is forgotten and only realised when everyone is finally in the car to go. This is while the parents are trying to keep a lid on the growing anxiety about getting to work on time.
It’s not much better at the end of the day either. After a busy day at work, it’s time to go up, pick up the kids, organise dinner, homework and bed. If you are lucky, you might be able to relax after you have tidied the kitchen before you go to bed to start the cycle again.
